Yellow is such a cheerful color. It’s one of my favorites to wear because it’s a definite mood changer. This is probably one of my favorite silhouettes that J.Crew and J.Crew Factory carries. It’s comfortable, lined AND has pockets! I love a dress/skirt with pockets! Also, it can be easily dressed up or down. We all love a piece that can multi-task, am I right?

It’s finally here…summer! It’s been three weeks since I’ve posted…but who’s counting? Anyways, things have been quite busy with work, a trip to LA and lots of spring birthdays. Oh, and who can forget my obsession with The Voice? I’m a die hard American Idol fan but I need something to keep me going during their down season. I was rooting for Michelle Chamuel all the way! She’s wonderfully awkward and seems like a genuinely nice person, PLUS she’s got amazing chops.

While I was at work I noticed a lot of kids just hanging around when school should be in session. Then I realized that school’s already out! Which explains why the new Superman movie, Man of Steel, was sold out at three of the theaters that we attempted to buy tickets from last Friday. We were finally able to watch the movie but I have to say that I’m not so sure it was worth all the effort. There was one extremely long fight scene that seemed to go on for an eternity. I won’t spoil it for you but if you watch it (or if you’ve already watched it) you’ll probably know exactly what I’m talking about. It got the point where I actually said out loud, “REALLY? Are we really going to go one more time around?” Disclaimer: I’m not a hardcore fan of the Superman comics and I don’t know all the back story so maybe there’s a reason for it. In any case, I wish I had seen This Is The End instead. I’ve heard hilarious things about that movie and a great interview on NPR with Seth Rogan and Evan Goldberg. Can’t wait to watch it this weekend!

Have a wonderful weekend, lovelies!

I hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend! Skinny and I decided to meet up with some friends in the city. I was expecting it to be cloudy and chilly but to my surprise the weather was spectacular! It’s days like these I wish I lived “where little cable cars climb halfway to the stars”. But then I remember how much I love the convenience of driving and having my own parking spot. Still, the city is a great escape from the suburbs…and you can’t quite beat those San Francisco bay views.

It’s obvious by now that color and prints make me one happy gal. I really feel like I came into my own true style just within the past five years. The fun thing about fashion and style is that it’s not constant; your look is always evolving as your mood or circumstances change. This is also what makes it so fun!

This week at work I noticed a couple of clients coming in for help with introducing color into their wardrobe. It made me realize how easy it is to change the makeup of your wardrobe just by adding some color. Simply throwing in a pair of bright-colored skinny jeans can make the most drab pieces come to life!

For those of you with a keen eye…yes, I do the under-fold for most of my skinny jeans. I’m only 5’1″ which basically means that there are no pants on the market that are made to fit me properly in length unless it’s petite sizing. I hate having to pay to get my pants shortened so I just do this under-fold. It’s quick, easy and you can get it to the exact length that you need (insert obvious joke here). I really need to learn how to do this on my sewing machine that’s currently collecting dust.
